Earning Extra Cash for Wedding Funds

Garage Sale:
Best way to sell items that you would normally donate. You need to be willing to let go of items for a very low price.

Consignment Stores:
Best way to sell brand name clothing or shoes.  They will attempt to sell for about 2 months depending on store.  If items do not sell, then the store will donate unless you specify. If sold, you will have the option to either get a percentage as store credit or cash.  The store I go to is My Sister's Closet

Ebay:
Best way to sell collectibles.  Pay attention to listing & selling fees because they add up.

Craigslist:
Best way to sell furniture.  Safety first.

Working on a Budget

Create an excel sheet with vendors names, contact information, deposits, amount owed by month and update once payments have been received.

Creating a Wedding Website

I decided to create a wedding website using the  Wedding Channel , I've been working on it little by little.  It has made life so much easier with keeping track of guest, their addresses and wedding details.  I will eventually include the wedding website on the "Save the Date" announcements and invitations.  I'm only going to list my wedding registry on the website.

Wedding Color Ideas

Wedding colors picked: Apple Red & Truffle

I went on the David's Bridal website for dress and suit ideas. I'm having the bridesmaids wear apple red, knee length, satin dresses.  Our parents will be wearing truffle brown.  The flower girl will have a truffled color sash. The groomsmen will get their suits from the Men's Wearhouse.  I'm still debating on my dress.  I'm leaning towards ivory.

Finding a wedding venue

Finding a venue was a lot easier than I had imagined.  I already had one in mind.  I had an appointment at one of the offices in Villa Siena three years prior when I purchased my first home and fell in love with it.  I told my mom that I would get married there one day and took a brochure.  I told my fiancee about Villa Siena and we went together to their open house.  Once he took the tour, he wanted to sign the contract and book the date that same day.  I was the one who wanted to wait and look at our finances to see if it was even feasible.  We talked to our parents and they offered to help us out!  We went back to the wedding planner and asked for a payment plan for ceremony and reception.  As a matter of fact, we negotiated a payment plan with all the vendors 10 months in advance.

How we got engaged

We went to California for a day for my uncle's wedding.  We stayed at a hotel in Anaheim right across from Disneyland.  My boyfriend said he was planning on proposing out there but it was raining and foggy.  So, we just ended up driving back home in AZ.  Once we arrived, my boyfriend called me and wanted me to open a gift he got for me underneath our Christmas tree.  I found a box with the M&M logo on it.  He knows it's my favorite because of my initials MMM.  Every time he would travel he would bring me back little M&M figurines.  I have a whole bag full!  So, he threw me a curve ball, I did not expect what was to come at all.  I opened the box to find little M&M's with ASU colors, pictures of us, a funny one of him from our iChat, "I love you" & "Will you marry me?" all over them! Looked at him stunned, as he got on one knee to propose.  Tears started rolling down my eyes. He started shaking. He pulled out this beautiful sparkly ring that he picked out. :'D I said YES of course and gave him a huge hug and kiss.  I couldn't believe it.  We had talked about getting married but I didn't know when or if he would actually propose to me.  It was really happening!
